Monday's Memories: The Grounds

Our day at "Pemberley" was cold, alternating between misty rain and bright sunshine.  You might recognize the fountain.  I wish I'd taken a shot from the other side; I think it's one they have in the movie, but KJ reminded me it wouldn't have been as wonderful since this was the side of the house covered in the tarp.

I love the light on this lane.  It's the one Elizabeth and the Gardiners drive up to Pemberley on.

 Isn't that gorgeous?

Apparently the Cavendish family have always been patrons of the arts, and there were some very...interesting displays of modern art placed around the grounds.

Kind of fascinating in a strange sort of way...

KJ's favorite, a lion made out of used tires
He really was cool.

 Chatsworth from the back

Apparently the snake is part of the Cavendish family crest.

I didn't take pictures (why???), but we lunched at Chatsworth.  The old stables have been turned into a large cafeteria, but a cafeteria with style.  We ate off china with the Cavendish family crest, using real flatware.  It was really nice and good to get out of the biting wind. After lunch we stopped at the entrance to Chatsworth for a few pictures of the bridge and the stream.  It was lovely.

Farewell, Pemberley.
