Scattering Seed

As I was reading this morning I came across a couple of verses about the kingdom of God that were especially encouraging to me in mothering.

"The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.  He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.  The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.  But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."
- Mark 4:26-29 -

At this point in my life I spend most of my time at home with my children, and I have been thinking of ways I could be more intentional about teaching Ella as we go throughout the day.  It is a great burden-remover to know that my job is only to scatter the seed.  God is at work, and I can go to bed and rise each day with a peaceful heart.  As I scatter the seed of His word, He will cause her to grow.  I know not when the harvest will come, but it will come.  In fact, I'm sure I will be reaping wonderful things from Ella's precious life for the rest of mine.

This is us doing Yoga on the Wii a couple of days ago.
She learned to do the Warrior move for the first time.
(I'll take down the picture if anyone thinks it's inappropriate without pants.  She hardly ever wears pants at home.)

  1. My girls....what treasures you are. She is learning all the time from you Lynn. Not many 3 years olds know how to do the Warrior. She didn't get that from me. =) Keep pouring in..."Let us not grow tired of doing what is right for after a while we will reap if we don't faint not." You're a wonderful mom. Praise the Lord.

  2. About the picture -- the only thing to be concerned about is men who look for pictures of little girls on the internet. It is very easy to download a picture from a blog, and they can (and will) photoshop it in any way they want. Something like that may never happen to any of your pictures, but it's better to be on the safe side. One thing you can do is add a watermark to all of the pictures you upload.
