Decking the Halls (or at least the living room)

We were so happy to have Big Daddy and T along for picking out our Christmas tree this year.  After much debate we went with Ella's choice of a Fraser Fir grown in Scotland, which was a fun bonus for Americans who think everything Scottish is cool.

It was quite the foggy afternoon, and the woodsy smell inside the garden was delightful.

I was leaning toward a bigger tree, but in the end we went with Ella's choice that is beautiful and perfect, and if we'd gotten anything any bigger it would have really overcrowded the living room.

That's our tree on the left, which looks taller than Big Daddy, so I'm not sure why I wanted bigger.  I guess bigger always seems better at Christmas!

I'm so glad we had a Ninja Shepherd around to help.

We ate pizza, listened to Christmas music, and then watched A Charlie Brown Christmas.

There is so much darkness in the world, and lately the list of evil things happening seems to grow ever longer.  We remember that Jesus has come and that He has promised to come again and set all things right.

"The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them...

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."

- Isaiah 9:2, 6 -

  1. This is so wonderful, Lynn!

    Your tree IS perfect, indeed, and the fact that Mom & Dad were there to pick it out with you guys makes it that much more special.

    I LOVE each photo, and the ambiance and memories made sound delightful.

    Again, wishing you guys were hopping on the flight with Big Daddy & T, but we will try to be patient for that day, too ;)

    So much love from each of us to each of you <3
