September Beauty

September really is a beautiful month living this far north of the equator.  There are still some warm days, but the full heat of summer has faded.  There are cooler mornings and evenings.  In a word, it's autumn! 

I took a lot of pictures this month because we went on vacation, and this first week back from vacation has been a bit of a doozy.  I'm sure next week will be better, and we'll get fully into our fall groove.  It's just that vacation was so good...

I'm thankful for September's gentle transition into a new season.

Indian summer was a glad fifth season
that didn't come every year.  It stepped
in without warning, as an inexpressibly
welcome bonus, a gift that made limbs lighter,
minds clearer, steps quicker.
