KJ and I have teamed up to bring you the following charming views:
Hampshire
We said our farewells to Hampshire today after making one
last stop to visit Jane Austen's grave at Winchester Cathedral.
The cathedral was awe-inspiring.
We then drove to visit Highclere Castle,
which is the location of the new BBC television show, Downton Abbey.
Because the castle/home is only open a few days this month,
and because of the popularity of the show,
there was an extremely long queue when we drove up.
Thankfully, KJ had purchased passes that allowed us to skip the line!
The house was way too crowded to go inside for our taste, but we enjoyed
the grounds very much. Here is the view of the house from the back.
That's pretty nice, right?
That is a KJ Pugh masterpiece.
I helped him with the exposure, but he set up the shot.
That's how we roll.
That is another view from the side lawn of Highclere.
From there we drove to Oxford where we visited the home of the Dukes of Marlborough,
the home of the Churchills, the home where Winston Churchill was born.
The houses just kept getting grander and grander today.
This is actually only the view from one side of the Palace.
There will have to be more tomorrow.
We ended the day with dinner at the The Royal Sun, where I enjoyed Chili con carne, British style. Chili served over wild rice with tortilla chips and sour cream. It was delicious. We have since retired to our wonderful room for an early night. It's been so pleasant. Tomorrow we explore Oxford and visit C.S. Lewis's home.
Would anyone like to guess how many pictures I'm going to be bringing home from this trip? The number is growing steadily day by day, that's for sure.
AMAZING photos! It still hasn't sunken in that you guys are actually seeing all of this first hand. Thank you for capturing the sites for us to share (partially) in your enjoyment
